A Weekly Press Briefing was held on current developments, primarily covering the activities of the Ministry of National Defense (MSB). During the briefing, officials announced that the ALP 100-G Low Altitude Radar System and the Medium-Range Regional Air and Missile Defense System SİPER Product-1 battery have been added to the Turkish Armed Forces’ inventory.
New Capabilities for the Air Force
According to the statement, the Air Force Command has inducted the following systems in various quantities:
- ALP 100-G Low Altitude Radar System and seeker head radars, developed by ASELSAN
- SİPER Product-1 Medium-Range Air and Missile Defense System battery
ALP 100-G Low Altitude Radar
Developed by ASELSAN, the ALP 100-G Low Altitude Radar is designed to detect and track low-flying threats, including UAVs, drones, helicopters, and cruise missiles.
Equipped with AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) technology, the radar operates in the S-Band and generates a three-dimensional (3D) air picture.
With 360-degree horizontal coverage, a wide vertical scan angle, and multi-target tracking capability, ALP 100-G is intended to close low-altitude gaps in existing long-range radar networks.
SİPER Product-1: A Key Layer of the Steel Dome
SİPER Product-1, one of the upper layers of Türkiye’s Steel Dome air defense architecture, was developed to protect strategic facilities and military units.
Comparable in capability to Western systems such as Patriot, SİPER Product-1 offers:
- Effective range: over 100 km
- Effective altitude: over 20 km
With SİPER’s induction, Türkiye has joined a select group of countries capable of developing long-range air defense systems. The program reduces foreign dependency and ensures that engagement rules and source codes remain fully under Turkish Armed Forces control.
CBRN Reconnaissance Vehicle Enters Service
The Turkish defense industry continues to enhance the operational capabilities of the armed forces through domestically developed systems. In this context:
- Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Reconnaissance Vehicles have entered the Land Forces Command inventory for the first time following the completion of inspection and acceptance procedures.
- Under the Precision Guidance Kit (HGK-84) Supply Project, a number of guidance kits developed by ASFAT in cooperation with TÜBİTAK SAGE were delivered to the Air Force Command.
