Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MSB) said on Monday that a new batch of domestically developed land and naval systems, including next-generation howitzers and a naval gun, has entered service with the Turkish Armed Forces.

Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, the ministry’s press and public relations advisor and spokesperson, announced the deliveries during a weekly press briefing, highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen military capabilities through indigenous production.

Land systems delivered

According to Aktürk, several systems were added to the inventory of the Land Forces Command following the completion of inspection and acceptance procedures. These include:

  • Various quantities of new-generation T-155 Fırtına self-propelled howitzers
  • 5.56 mm light machine guns
  • 17 rigid-hulled personnel boats

He noted that these additions are part of a broader effort to enhance operational capabilities using domestically developed defense technologies.

DENİZHAN naval gun delivered

Aktürk also confirmed that the sixth unit of the DENİZHAN national naval gun, developed by Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE), has been delivered for integration into the TCG Akdeniz, an Istif-class frigate.

The delivery marks another step in Turkey’s efforts to expand its indigenous naval weapons portfolio.

Senegal aircraft maintenance deal

Separately, Aktürk said a contract was signed under the coordination of ASFAT for the maintenance and repair of a CN-235 aircraft belonging to the Senegal Air Force.

The aircraft has been transferred to Kayseri for servicing. Officials said the project is significant in demonstrating Turkey’s growing capability to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services at an international level.
