Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defense (MSB) said on Monday that an air track approaching the country’s airspace from the Black Sea was detected and monitored in accordance with standard procedures.

In a written statement dated December 15, 2025, the ministry said F-16 fighter jets operating under NATO and national command were scrambled on an alert reaction mission to ensure airspace security.

The statement said the air track was later identified as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that had gone out of control. To prevent any potential risk, the UAV was shot down in a secure area outside populated zones, the ministry added.
