As part of Turkey’s Layered Air Defence System project, the most powerful element of the Steel Dome system developed under the leadership of the Presidency of Defence Industries will be the GÖKSUR short-range air defence missile system produced by ASELSAN.

With the cooperation of ASELSAN and TÜBİTAK SAGE, a new advanced technology in the field of air and missile defence will be added. Work on the GÖKSUR air defence missile system is progressing rapidly. This system will be effective against a wide range of threats including anti-ship missiles, UAVs, cruise missiles, fighter jets and helicopters. Designed specifically to engage targets flying close to the surface, GÖKSUR will make a significant contribution to our Navy’s defence capabilities.

Among GÖKSUR’s remarkable features are its 360-degree threat destruction capability, guided projectile with new-generation IIR seeker and multi-target interception capability. The system, which can be operated independently or integrated into various platforms, offers features such as data-linked interstage guidance and high single-shot destruction probability. Developed with a modular design approach, GÖKSUR provides solutions suitable for different configurations.

The GÖKSUR IIR missile, developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE for the air defence needs of naval platforms, is used as an interceptor missile. GÖKSUR IIR, which is an adapted version of the BOZDOĞAN air-to-air missile for naval platforms, is equipped with features such as bi-directional data link and vertical launch capability. The missile, whose wind tunnel tests have been completed using TÜBİTAK SAGE infrastructure, has passed an important step in the transition to live firing tests.

The qualification processes of the GÖKSUR system will be completed with the firing test campaigns to be carried out in the coming period, and it is planned to enter into service with the Turkish Naval Forces Command in the near future.
