Turkey has entered the initial training phase of its Eurofighter Typhoon procurement program, with flight crews and ground-based technical personnel set to begin preparations in the United Kingdom.
A working visit to RAF Coningsby Air Base is scheduled for February 24–27, 2026, marking the first step in operational training under the recently signed Eurofighter agreement.
Official Statement from the Ministry of National Defense
Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, Press and Public Relations Advisor and Spokesperson for Turkey’s Ministry of National Defense (MSB), announced the development during the ministry’s weekly press briefing held at the Communications Electronics Information Systems (MEBS) School and Training Center Command on February 19, 2026.
Aktürk confirmed that the project has formally transitioned into the initial training phase for both aircrew and technical support personnel.
Training Phase Follows £5.4 Billion Eurofighter Agreement
The training initiative follows the signing of a £5.4 billion agreement between Turkey and the United Kingdom for the procurement of 20 newly manufactured Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets.
The personnel training program is considered a critical milestone in ensuring operational readiness ahead of aircraft delivery. It is designed to support the seamless integration of the Eurofighter Typhoon platform into the Turkish Air Force inventory.
Defense officials view the early launch of training activities as a strategic step to accelerate capability acquisition and reduce the transition timeline once aircraft deliveries begin.
