Türkiye formally inducted the SANCAR Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) into the Naval Forces Command inventory during a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, marking a further step in Ankara’s drive toward defense industry self-reliance.

The event also included the groundbreaking and opening of new HAVELSAN facilities, underscoring the company’s expanding production and research capacity.

Erdoğan: Defense Projects Guarantee Strategic Independence

In his address, President Erdoğan emphasized domestic production and technological independence, stating that Türkiye has evolved into a country capable of developing and exporting its own defense systems.

He described defense projects not only as military assets but also as pillars of strategic sovereignty, adding that domestically developed systems are strengthening Türkiye’s position across maritime, air, and land domains.

HAVELSAN: SANCAR Enhances Unmanned Naval Warfare Capabilities

HAVELSAN General Manager Mehmet Akif Nacar said the SANCAR USV will reinforce Türkiye’s unmanned maritime warfare capabilities. He noted that the platform was developed using national resources and thanked partner institutions and stakeholders involved in the project.

The SANCAR USV represents part of Türkiye’s broader push toward network-enabled and autonomous naval systems.

HAVELSAN Business Volume Reaches $2 Billion

Nacar stated that HAVELSAN’s domestic sales and exports have doubled over the past three years, bringing total business volume to approximately $2 billion.

The company plans to increase production capacity by 40% through new facility investments while generating additional employment. HAVELSAN is also expanding its focus on high value-added sectors, including:

  • Software systems
  • Cybersecurity
  • Simulation technologies
  • Command and control systems

HAVELSAN’s ADVENT Combat Management System is currently deployed across multiple naval platforms and has been exported to four continents.

The company continues development of next-generation, network-enabled combat systems integrated with artificial intelligence, positioning itself in the evolving battlespace of digital and autonomous warfare.
