President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Türkiye’s defense industry has crossed critical thresholds during a ceremony at ASELSAN’s Gölbaşı campus on Tuesday, announcing the first delivery of Steel Dome air defense systems.

Steel Dome Delivery

Erdoğan said a 47-vehicle air defense package was handed over to the Turkish Armed Forces, including:

  • 1 SİPER long-range air defense system with 10 support vehicles
  • 3 HİSAR-O medium-range systems with 21 vehicles
  • KORKUT short-range system
  • ALP-300G and ALP-100G radars
  • 7 PUHU and 2 REDET electronic warfare systems

“With the Steel Dome, hundreds of platforms will act as a single network. ASELSAN’s AI-supported command and control software will enable instant battlefield integration,” Erdoğan said.

Strategic Investments

The president highlighted new investments:

  • 14 new ASELSAN facilities
  • $280 million investment volume
  • 40% rise in production capacity
  • 23,000 m² cleanroom and labs
  • 4,000 new jobs

He also laid the foundation of the Oğulbey Technology Base, a $1.5 billion project featuring:

  • 585,000 m² closed space, 132,000 m² production area
  • 8,000 new jobs
  • Focus on quantum tech, advanced networks, and AI-driven defense algorithms

ASELSAN’s Export Push

Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün said the deliveries provide not just operational strength but also “strategic depth and deterrence.”

ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol noted:

  • $1.3 billion export contracts signed in the first half of 2025
  • ASELSAN ranks among the top 10 fastest-growing defense firms globally for two years
  • Serial production capacity has expanded by 40%
