The Ministry of National Defense announced that a large number of domestically produced defense systems and ammunition were delivered to the three main command branches of the Turkish Armed Forces over the past two weeks.
Ministry Spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk held the weekly press briefing at the 2nd Main Jet Base Command in İzmir Çiğli to mark the 115th anniversary of the Air Force Command.
The Land Forces were equipped for the first time with the MİLKAR-6A Portable Electronic Attack System and the İHA-230 ammunition. Both systems have completed their inspection and acceptance processes and have been added to the inventory.
İHA-230: Türkiye’s First Air-to-Ground Supersonic Ballistic Missile
The İHA-230 is Türkiye’s first air-to-ground supersonic ballistic missile. The system’s first test launch took place in December 2022, when the missile destroyed a target 100 kilometers away with pinpoint accuracy.
With an effective range of 20 to 150 kilometers, the İHA-230 can be used against stationary land and sea targets, air defense radars, lightly armored vehicles, command centers, and personnel under both day and night conditions. The system is equipped with a fragmentation warhead and also features alternative warhead variants tailored for different target types.
The missile completes its launch preparations while still attached to the UAV. After release, it enters a brief free-fall phase before its solid-fuel motor automatically ignites. The İHA-230 uses GNSS-aided inertial guidance with built-in anti-jamming countermeasures, operating on a fire-and-forget principle. This allows operators to engage high-value targets without having to enter contested airspace.
Other Deliveries
As part of deliveries carried out by MKE, various types and quantities of weapons and ammunition — including the MK-82 general-purpose aircraft bomb — were delivered to the Army.
ASELSAN’s deliveries during this period covered all three branches of the military. The Land Forces received the TARAS-II Radio Link System; the Naval Forces received the AcroSAT Shipboard Satellite Communication Terminal; and the Air Force received the Laser Guidance Kit (LGK 84), the UAV Countermeasure System, and the ARTcom 9681 Air Radio.
These deliveries stand out for simultaneously expanding the Turkish Armed Forces’ capabilities in electronic warfare, precision-guided munitions, and counter-UAV operations. The all-domestic sourcing of these systems reflects Türkiye’s broader policy of reducing dependence on foreign defense suppliers.
