The GÖKSUR Air Defense System, developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE and ASELSAN, has successfully completed its first live-fire test in a naval environment. The test was conducted aboard the TCG BEYKOZ off the coast of Sinop.

ASELSAN released an official statement regarding the successful test, stating: “The first firing of our GÖKSUR Air Defense System in a maritime environment was successfully completed. The system stands out with its 15 km range, vertical launch capability, infrared imaging (IIR) missile, and high effectiveness against low-altitude targets.”

Strategic Importance and Technical Specifications of GÖKSUR

The GÖKSUR Close Air Defense Missile System, developed in collaboration with ASELSAN and TÜBİTAK SAGE, provides an effective defense solution against modern aerial threats. The system is designed to counter various threats, including:

  • Anti-ship missiles
  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
  • Cruise missiles
  • Fighter jets
  • Helicopters

Key Features of GÖKSUR:

  • 360-degree threat elimination capability
  • New-generation IIR seeker guidance system
  • Simultaneous engagement of multiple targets
  • Intermediate-stage guidance via data link and high single-shot kill probability
  • Modular design enabling integration with various platforms

GÖKSUR IIR Missile: Advanced Interceptor Technology

The GÖKSUR IIR Missile, developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE, serves as the system’s primary interceptor. Adapted from the BOZDOĞAN air-to-air missile for naval platforms, GÖKSUR IIR features:

  • Bidirectional data link for enhanced targeting
  • Vertical launch capability for rapid response
  • Successful wind tunnel and live-fire testing at TÜBİTAK SAGE facilities

GÖKSUR Configurations

GÖKSUR will be available in multiple configurations to suit different operational requirements:

  • GÖKSUR 100-N VLS: Vertical launch system with enhanced engagement capabilities.
  • GÖKSUR 100-N CMI: Integrated with combat management systems.
  • GÖKSUR 100-N/StA: Standalone operation capability.

Additionally, BOZDOĞAN-DH, the data link-integrated version of the BOZDOĞAN missile, will receive intermediate-stage updates via GÖKSUR’s sensors before engaging the target using its IIR seeker in the terminal phase. The GÖKDOĞAN beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile will also be incorporated into the GÖKSUR system.

GÖKSUR’s Global Market Potential

With its modular architecture, GÖKSUR can be seamlessly integrated into naval platforms such as frigates and corvettes, offering significant export potential. The system garnered substantial attention at the Euronaval 2024 Exhibition in Paris, where ASELSAN showcased both GÖKSUR and GÖKDENİZ air defense systems.
