One of Türkiye’s most established defense industry companies, Machinery and Chemical Industry Inc. (MKE), has established a new company in Azerbaijan under the name Machinery and Chemical Azerbaijan (MKA), placing defense and technology cooperation between the two countries on an institutional footing.
The Baku-based company has been officially registered by Azerbaijani authorities and has commenced operations. MKA marks MKE’s first overseas subsidiary.
Speaking at the Ministry of National Defense’s weekly press briefing, Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, Press and Public Relations Advisor and Ministry Spokesperson, said the launch of MKA reflects the concrete and strategic steps taken in defense industry cooperation with “friendly and brotherly” Azerbaijan.
Aktürk noted that the establishment of MKA is expected to further deepen bilateral cooperation in the defense industry.
Strategic hub for the Caucasus and Central Asia
Officials said Machinery and Chemical Azerbaijan will not be limited to the Azerbaijani market, but will be positioned as a strategic hub for the Caucasus and Central Asia.
The company’s activities are expected to extend beyond product sales. Plans include the transfer of production technologies, particularly ammunition and munitions production lines, to Azerbaijan. The initiative aims to strengthen the regional defense industry ecosystem and enhance local manufacturing capabilities.
