Türkiye’s leading defense industry institutions have signed a $6.5 billion strategic contract package that paves the way for the serial production and enhancement of the Steel Dome integrated air defense system.
The ceremony, hosted by HAVELSAN and coordinated by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), brought together SSB President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, Vice President Hüseyin Avşar, ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol, Roketsan General Manager Murat İkinci, representatives of the Turkish Armed Forces, and other industry stakeholders.
A Major $6.5 Billion Program
The total economic value of the projects included in the signed agreements is approximately $6.5 billion, marking one of the most comprehensive investment packages in Türkiye’s air and missile defense portfolio.
During his speech, SSB President Görgün stated that decisions of the Defense Industry Executive Committee (SSİK) have rapidly transformed into concrete contracts. He highlighted substantial progress in both offensive systems and air defense capabilities.
Görgün also underlined that all components of the layered air defense architecture—including subsystems, network-centric structures, software, and hardware—are being developed with domestic and national technologies.
He added that efforts are continuing to increase the range and destructive power of offensive systems.
